Episode 73
Counseling Ethically Across Belief Systems
1. Content Description
This continuing education program explores the ethical integration of faith in clinical practice, with a specific focus on how Christian counselors can ethically serve both Christian and non-Christian clients. The training examines common areas of confusion, including professional identity, informed consent, value conflicts, and maintaining ethical boundaries while holding a faith-based worldview.
Through clinical discussion and real-world examples, participants will learn how to navigate the intersection of personal beliefs and professional responsibilities without imposing values or causing harm. The program emphasizes ethical decision-making, client autonomy, cultural humility, and the importance of clarity in communication regarding faith integration.
Practical strategies are provided for implementing ethical informed consent, assessing client-therapist fit, responding to value differences in session, and repairing potential ruptures. This course is designed to strengthen clinicians’ ability to practice ethically while remaining authentic to their professional and personal identity.
