On today’s episode, we’re going to address something that I know I could not be the only person who has ever experienced. And that is rushing and feeling pressured and making decisions from our pressure and making decisions out of our nervousness or out of maybe our fear, out of desperation. Have you ever made business decisions because
You had an idea of what needed to happen. You had an idea of what timing needed to take place. And as that deadline approached or as you noticed things were not coming about the way you envisioned, you started to a little nervous. You started wondering if things were going to work out in business or your goal’s going to come to pass. And maybe you skipped the step of actually praying about it first.
Seeing is that what God actually told you to do in the first place? And and so we’re we’re gonna kind of look at you know the dangers of rushing and how God’s timing is perfect liability protection so I want to start off with this Scripture perfect scripture right Proverbs 3 5 through 6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight.
love the scripture. How well are we doing with walking in it? Now, some of us actually are doing quite well. Some of us are individuals who are quick to say, know, let me sleep on that for a minute. You know, let me pray on that. Let me see what comes up in my spirit. Let me take a little bit of time to kind of…
Camille McDaniel (02:20.75)
see what comes up from the Lord. Some people are so great at the ability of just waiting. And so if that’s you then you know what you might feel like I don’t know if this episode applies to me but that’s okay stick on to hear it with us because you might have some things to add and you might have some things that you recognize come up that might be beneficial to somebody else.
Now, I’m talking to everybody else here who says, yes, I have a million and one tabs that pop up in my brain of ideas and new things that I can do. I get super excited when other individuals around me are talking about things that they’re involved in or that they’re going to create. And it gets my creative juices flowing. And I think of all the ways that I can serve God’s people and I could build my business and I can create freedom for my family and myself.
I just go full speed ahead sometimes. And sometimes when things don’t really work out and I can’t see how it’s all going to come together. And sometimes when I actually am not really sure about this whole business entrepreneurship journey, I can make decisions without prayer. I can make decisions without patience. I can make decisions because
I’m afraid. Well, then I want you to definitely stay and let’s talk this through. You know, I definitely understand that I’m an individual who is definitely over the years had to just slow myself down, had to get really comfortable with sleeping on something really comfortable with the fact that just because it popped in my mind and it really could be an awesome business venture.
It doesn’t mean that it’s the awesome business venture I am supposed to leap at. And sometimes when I actually think, you know what? I know God’s given me a measure of intelligence in this area. I can move forward with this plan. I know exactly how I’m going to make it all come together. I have definitely done that in error. Matter of fact, just recently,
Camille McDaniel (04:43.534)
I was saved from an era that could have possibly maybe tarnished the practice overall because I was moving fast and had these ideas and things that I wanted to implement in the practice and I did not listen when I really think about it. So I don’t want to say I don’t feel like it was just blatant.
a blatant disrespectful no to the Lord. But when I think about it, you know, I think the Lord told me what to do and I’m not sure that that’s what I wanted to hear at the time. And I don’t think I heard it then. I heard it. But it wasn’t really what I wanted to hear. And so I didn’t move forward in the way that he asked and by his grace and mercy, he still saved me, thankfully. And that was in business.
And it was a decision in adding someone to the group. And I had these ideas of, like I said, services that I wanted to implement. And I just had an idea of how it was going to all come together and how it was going to expand. And that’s not what he told me to do. Actually, the opposite. He told me not to do anything at all. He told me.
don’t start anything. He told me exactly some other things that I needed to know about direction. And in hindsight, I see exactly why he told me. Because my time and my talents and my energy were going to need to be placed somewhere else, doing something super important, but in a whole different direction. And if I were to have tied myself up in the way that I was going,
then I would not have been available to what was also very, very important to focus on. And in this particular way that he saved me, he saved me because it’s important to note how community and wise counsel can really be an awesome thing to have in your life. And so,
Camille McDaniel (07:04.814)
as I was moving forward with plans and going in the direction that I shouldn’t have been going in. I had some wise counsel along the way from individuals who said, know, I don’t really know. I’m not getting a great feeling about this. And you know, that’s a blessing in itself. When you have individuals who are in your corner who can actually say, I don’t know, something’s feeling a little off.
And you can receive that because you respect them and you know that the Lord works through them. And you can say, hmm, I’m not seeing it right now. Because remember, I didn’t necessarily want to hear what I was told. And so I had kind of blocked that off. really, it wasn’t even coming up for me at the time. And so what ended up happening after I heard one person say, I’m not sure how I feel about this. And I heard another person say, I don’t know. I slowed down.
I said, okay, let me observe. Let me just see what’s going on. And lo and behold, it came to pass that it was revealed why, you know, I probably shouldn’t have made the decision that I made. And by grace and mercy, it was caught before it could cause any damage in my business. And, and it…
actually almost pulled in the business as we actually got a phone call later from somebody who had a few questions and just wanted to know if we were associated with a certain person and we were not, had not been for some time. And so I was thankful that even though I was still moving full speed ahead and I didn’t hear what I needed to hear, didn’t listen when I needed to listen.
that I had surrounded myself with a wonderful support team who was open to the Lord and to listening and not fearful to tell me the truth when I needed to hear it.
Camille McDaniel (09:16.29)
And that became a big blessing. And so one of the things that we definitely want to do when we are individuals who can have wonderful ideas and go full speed ahead and sometimes not listen when we’ve already been given instruction is we want to make sure that we have individuals in our corner who are not afraid to speak up, even if it’s in opposition to the ideas that we may hold.
Camille McDaniel (09:45.592)
We don’t want to be led by fear. know, fear that things aren’t going to work out for you in your business. Fear that you won’t be able to meet certain goals or obligations. Nervousness and anxiety that it won’t all come together. Nervousness and anxiety when you can’t see the full blueprint can kind of cause you to move a little too fast.
can kind of make you extremely uncomfortable when what you have to do is sleep on something, wait about a couple of days, wait about a week. Or even listen to the Lord when he says, don’t do anything. And you’re like, don’t do anything. Well, if I don’t do anything, how is this gonna come together and that gonna come together? And how am I gonna be able to do these things and meet these goals and figure these things out? Well, again, what did the scripture say?
Trust in the Lord with your whole heart and lean not into what? Your understanding, your limited understanding. Of course, he has given us great knowledge about certain things. He’s given us intelligence in certain areas, but we don’t have the full picture of what’s going on in the future and in the present.
We don’t have that. And so while we want to definitely come up with all the wonderful ideas and we actually want to not be stagnant or, you know, kind of sedentary, but we want to run it through the one who holds our whole business in his hand. And so be careful of how fear shows up. Be careful of how anxiety shows up when you can’t see the full blueprint.
Be careful of looking at what other people are doing and getting so ambitious that you don’t use spiritual discernment. Discernment and patience, my goodness. Another package of that whole liability insurance for your practice.
Camille McDaniel (12:08.3)
Be careful because discernment allows you to lean into what the Lord has for you and hear it in whatever ways he speaks to you and trust it because you’re familiar with how he speaks to you. It’s so important. So spiritual discernment, counsel from other people can be great protection in your private practice.
as you’re moving forward. Don’t get caught up. I can’t stress this enough. I’m sure I’ve said it on other episodes. Don’t get caught up in looking at what everybody else is doing for their practice. That’s their path, their journey, their road, their assignment. You have your own path, journey, road, and assignment. Don’t worry. It’ll be just as great. But it’ll be yours because you have things to do in this world.
people to impact and it may not be the same as who someone else is going to impact. I know that for me, a lot of what I get as far as instruction from the Lord in my business also helps me to not be in conflict with another thing the father has allowed me and my family to do and that’s homeschool my children.
We take turns. think I’ve shared that before. know, there are certain days I’m home with the boys and other days that they’re with another family member, still learning. But, you know, the things that the father has me doing, make sure to take care of all of the gifts and the blessings that he has given me. He’s not going to have me doing something in my business that’s going to cause me to totally neglect the other gifts he’s given me.
with having my family. And so again, when I say sometimes we don’t see the whole picture and the father tells all of us to do things in his timing, but we want to be open to hearing and obeying. Okay, that spiritual discernment is so key. So some real practical takeaways from this fairly short episode, if you will.
Camille McDaniel (14:35.156)
Number one, commit our decisions in prayer. When we’re faced with a decision, we want to take the time to pray. We want to take the time to see God’s face. It’s OK to say, I need to go into prayer, and I’m not going to make a final decision until I hear from the Lord. You know that’s easy said, and if you’ve really sat with it, you know how that can sometimes feel when you have to actually do it.
Because sometimes you might know rather quickly, and sometimes you might be sitting on a thing for a couple of days. Maybe you get a response in a week.
but don’t move until you get the green light from God.
Trust that God’s plan will unfold in his perfect timing. Step two, even if things seem slow, even if it seems like it’s going slow in business, even if it doesn’t seem like it’s going as fast as your neighbor is going, even though it may seem like people are coming out with all the services and all the new courses and all the new travel arrangements and all the new things.
That’s wonderful. Bless them. That’s awesome. That’s where they are going right now. Bo, what’s your assignment?
Camille McDaniel (16:06.336)
Step three is to remember to seek godly counsel. Don’t forget to surround yourself with trusted believers who are not afraid to speak truth, even if it’s in opposition to something you’re super excited about. Come together in decision-making and pray for wisdom. Pray for answers. All right, here’s the next one.
Set boundaries to avoid rushing. So recognize when you are feeling pressure to grow in your practice, to keep up with somebody else. Acknowledge that there are external pressures all around us.
ambition and growth and and this person hit these numbers and someone else hit those numbers and this person’s full and that person’s making all this money and this person’s set up for retirement already and all the things right. Be aware of recognizing outside pressures that can definitely cause you to rush into decisions. All right. Establish personal boundaries as well.
not just business boundaries, but personal boundaries. So avoid saying yes to everything. Remember when I talked about in the beginning, the person who has tabs, a million and one tabs open up in their head. That’s me. That is me. And everything sounds like a great idea or you know how you could turn something into this or that, or this would be good or that. Be careful about saying yes to everything and allow God’s timing to just unfold naturally.
Just allow it to kind of happen the way it’s supposed to happen for you in your business. Take time to reflect. Give yourself some space. Take a step back. Make sure that you’re getting the green light from God. And at the end of the day, absolutely know in your heart of hearts that he knows what’s best for you and for your business.
Camille McDaniel (18:25.006)
pray that this episode blessed you. know that this is an episode that definitely I need. I’ve worked on for many, many years and I still get excited with all the different tabs that pop up in my head, but I have had to work on just slow down, just listen to what’s for you. Don’t move unless he says move, even though you might be passing up all kinds of opportunities and they look great and wonderful. And I’m like, my goodness, I just wanna, but it’s not for me. It’s not right now.
But it doesn’t mean it’ll never be for me, but not in this season. And that is okay.
Until next time, be blessed.
